The Decanter World Wine Awards (DWWA)<\/strong> is an international wine competition organised by Decanter and widely regarded as one of the wine industry\u2019s leading benchmarks. Now in its 23rd edition, it has established itself as the largest wine competition in the world, with results closely followed by both trade professionals and consumers. Each year, the competition showcases a broad range of wine regions, grape varieties and styles, highlighting both prestigious historic appellations and emerging terroirs.<\/p>\n

The Decanter competition is known for its rigorous judging process, based on blind tastings carried out by international wine experts. Wines are assessed within comparable categories, according to their country, region, colour, grape variety, style, vintage and price level, ensuring that each wine is judged alongside its peers. Judges are given the general profile of the wine, but not the producer or brand name, allowing the assessment to focus entirely on quality. Awards are given using the 100-point scoring system, with Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum medals, as well as the prestigious Best in Show<\/strong> distinction.<\/p>\n

Medals from the Decanter World Wine Awards are highly recognised across the global wine industry and serve as an important reference point for producers, distributors and wine lovers alike. In 2026, nearly 17,000 wines from 58 countries were tasted by 245 experts, including Masters of Wine and Master Sommeliers, confirming the competition\u2019s international scale and influence. Winning a Decanter medal can significantly increase a wine\u2019s visibility, enhance a producer\u2019s reputation and support its recognition in international markets.<\/p>\n
